OLA GJEILO RELEASE CONCERT
SCANDINAVIA HOUSE,
Park Avenue, New York City
NOV. 29, 2007,
7:30 pm
Dear XX
2L Records is proud to announce an evening of reflective and tuneful music written and performed by Norwegian composer and pianist Ola Gjeilo.
The concert, filled with evocative melodies in the borderlands between jazz, classical and popular music, also features elite musicians Tom Barber (flugelhorn), Emily Popham (violin), Claudia Schaer (violin), Janice LaMarre (viola), Johannes Martens (cello) and Ryland Kelly (bass). A graduate of The Juilliard School of Music, Ola moved to Los Angeles in 2006 and recently returned to New York City where he now maintains his career as a composer and pianist.
This is the US release concert for Mr Gjeilo's new album, Stone Rose, which is released in October on the GRAMMY®* nominated label 2L. The CD contains music written and performed by Ola, and supported by Tom Barber, Johannes Martens and David Coucheron (violin). Many of the album's tracks are expressions of Mr Gjeilo's profound love for New York City.
Stone Rose is Ola's first solo album, an eagerly awaited release from audiences across the world who have fallen in love with his expressive compositions and serenely beautiful playing.
